Bajrang Lal Takhar is an Indian rower who was born on 5 January, 1981 in Sikar, India. He is the first Indian to win a gold medal in rowing at the Asian Games. He won the gold medal in the men's single sculls event at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. Takhar began his rowing career in 2002 and has since won several medals at international competitions. He won a bronze medal at the 2003 Asian Rowing Championships in South Korea and a silver medal at the 2004 Asian Rowing Championships in China. He also won a bronze medal at the 2005 World Rowing Championships in Japan. Takhar is currently a member of the Indian Navy and is based in Goa. He is married to fellow rower, Manjeet Kaur, and they have two children. Takhar has been awarded the Arjuna Award in 2006 and the Padma Shri in 2011 for his achievements in rowing. He is also the recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2012. As of 2021, Bajrang Lal Takhar's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
