Antón García Abril is an internationally renowned Spanish architect and professor. He was born in Madrid in 1933 and studied architecture at the Madrid School of Architecture. He has been a professor at the Madrid School of Architecture since 1965 and has been a visiting professor at numerous universities around the world. He is best known for his work in the field of modernist architecture, particularly his use of concrete and steel. He has designed numerous buildings in Spain, including the National Library of Spain in Madrid, the National Museum of Science and Technology in Madrid, and the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid. He has also designed buildings in other countries, including the National Library of Mexico in Mexico City and the National Library of Colombia in Bogotá. Antón García Abril has received numerous awards for his work, including the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts from the Spanish government in 2002, the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts from the French government in 2003, and the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts from the Italian government in 2004.
