Abdellatif Maazouz is a Moroccan politician who has served in various government positions since the 1980s. He was the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries from 2002 to 2007, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies from 2007 to 2012. He is currently the Minister of Tourism. Maazouz was born in Sefrou, Morocco, on 18 August 1954. He studied at the University of Rabat, where he obtained a degree in agronomy in 1977. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in agronomy at the University of Montpellier in France. Maazouz began his career in the public sector in 1980, when he was appointed as the Director of the National Institute of Agronomic Research. He then served as the Director of the National Institute of Rural Development from 1984 to 1988. In 1988, Maazouz was appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, a position he held until 2002. During his tenure, he implemented several reforms to improve the sector, including the introduction of a new agricultural policy and the establishment of a national agricultural research institute.
