Alun Armstrong is a British actor who has been active in the entertainment industry since the late 1960s. He is best known for his roles in the television series New Tricks, The Street, and The Musketeers. He has also appeared in films such as Mona Lisa, Sleepy Hollow, and The King's Speech. Armstrong was born in Annfield Plain, County Durham, England, and attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He made his stage debut in 1968, and his first television appearance was in the BBC series The Wednesday Play in 1969. He has since appeared in numerous television series, films, and stage productions. Armstrong has been married to his wife, actress Sheila Hancock, since 1973. They have two children, actress Abigail Armstrong and actor Joe Armstrong. He is a patron of the charity The Children's Trust.
