Alexandre Welter is a Brazilian sailor who was born on June 30, 1953 in São Paulo, State of São Paulo, Brazil. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a silver medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and a bronze medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He is also a two-time world champion in the Star class, having won the world championship in 1989 and 1991. Welter began sailing at the age of 12 and has since become one of the most successful Brazilian sailors of all time. He has competed in numerous international sailing competitions, including the America's Cup, the Volvo Ocean Race, and the Star World Championships. He is currently the president of the Brazilian Sailing Federation. Welter is married to his wife, Maria, and they have two children. He is currently 70 years old.
