He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2000. He was also named to the All-American team in 2000. Scales was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2000 NBA Draft. He has played for the Lakers for the past 18 seasons, and has been a part of five NBA championship teams. He is currently the longest-tenured player on the Lakers roster. Scales is married to his wife, Jennifer, and they have two children.
