Aleksandr Baluev is a Russian actor who has appeared in over 100 films and television series. He is best known for his roles in the films Brother 2 (2000), The 9th Company (2005), and 1612 (2007). Baluev was born in Moscow, Russia, on 6 December 1958. He graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1982 and began his career as an actor in the Moscow Art Theatre. He has since appeared in numerous films and television series, including the popular Russian television series Brigade (2002-2004). Baluev has won numerous awards for his work, including the Nika Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in 1612 (2007). He has also been nominated for the Golden Eagle Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The 9th Company (2005). Aleksandr Baluev was born in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He graduated in 1975 from Moscow School № 637. After unsuccessful attempts to enter the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute he worked for a year as assistant illuminator in the light department at Mosfilm. The second attempt was more successful, with Aleksandr entering the Moscow Art Theatre School on Pavel Massalsky's course. In 1980, he successfully completed the training and became an actor of the Soviet Army Theatre. The first role in his theatrical career was playing in productions of Clock Without Hands and Lady of the Camellias.
