He attended the University of Manchester, where he studied drama and theatre studies. Entwistle began his career in the television industry in the late 1980s, working as a production assistant on the BBC series "The Bill". He then moved on to directing episodes of the show, and went on to direct episodes of "Casualty", "Holby City", "Doctors", and "The Bill". In addition to his work in television, Entwistle has also directed several feature films, including "The Last Great Adventure" (1996), "The Last Great Adventure 2" (1998), and "The Last Great Adventure 3" (2000). Entwistle has been married to his wife, actress and producer, Sarah Entwistle, since 1994. They have two children together.
