Akihiro Murayama is a Japanese mixed martial artist who has competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Pride Fighting Championships, and Pancrase. He is a former Shooto Middleweight Champion and a former Pancrase Light Heavyweight Champion. Murayama was born on March 29, 1980 in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan. He began training in judo at the age of five and later trained in karate and kickboxing. He made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2000, competing in the Shooto organization. He won the Shooto Middleweight Championship in 2003 and defended it twice before vacating it in 2005. Murayama made his UFC debut in 2006, losing to Thiago Silva via submission. He then competed in the Pride Fighting Championships, where he won the Pancrase Light Heavyweight Championship in 2007. He returned to the UFC in 2008, but was released after losing his first two fights. Murayama has since competed in various promotions, including Pancrase, Deep, and Rizin Fighting Federation.
