Adrienne Barbeau is an American actress, singer, and author. She is best known for her roles in the films Escape from New York (1981), The Fog (1980), and Creepshow (1982). She has also appeared in numerous television series, including Maude (1972–1978), for which she won a Golden Globe Award, and Swamp Thing (1982–1986). Barbeau was born on June 11, 1945, in Sacramento, California. She is the daughter of Armene (née Nalbandian) and Joseph Barbeau, a public relations executive for Mobil Oil. She has a brother, Robert, and a half-sister, Jocelyn. Barbeau began her career as a Broadway actress, making her debut in the musical Fiddler on the Roof in 1971. She later appeared in the musical Grease in 1972. She made her film debut in the horror film The Fog (1980). She went on to appear in Escape from New York (1981), Creepshow (1982), and Back to School (1986). Barbeau has also appeared in numerous television series, including Maude (1972–1978), for which she won a Golden Globe Award, and Swamp Thing (1982–1986). She has also appeared in guest roles on shows such as The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and The Drew Carey Show.
