William Addams Reitwiesner is an American genealogist and historian. He is best known for his work on the genealogy of the British Royal Family and the American First Families. He is the author of several books on genealogy and has been a consultant to the British Royal Family. Reitwiesner was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1976 with a degree in history. He then worked as a computer programmer for the National Security Agency. In the 1980s, he began researching the genealogy of the British Royal Family and the American First Families. Reitwiesner has written several books on genealogy, including The Royal Descents of 600 Immigrants to the American Colonies or the United States (1993), The Royal Descents of 500 Immigrants to the United States (1996), and The Royal Descents of 600 Immigrants to the United States (1999). He has also written articles for genealogical magazines and journals. Reitwiesner has served as a consultant to the British Royal Family and has been a guest lecturer at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
