Wang Hongzhang is a Chinese economist and banker who has served as the Chairman of the China Development Bank since 2013. He was born in 1954 in Changtu County, Tieling, Liaoning Province. He graduated from the Liaoning University of Finance and Economics in 1978 and obtained a master's degree in economics from the Central University of Finance and Economics in 1982. Wang Hongzhang began his career in 1982 as a lecturer at the Liaoning University of Finance and Economics. He then served as the Deputy Director of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Finance from 1985 to 1988. From 1988 to 1993, he was the Deputy Director of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Planning. From 1993 to 1998, Wang Hongzhang served as the Deputy Director of the State Planning Commission. From 1998 to 2003, he was the Deputy Governor of the People's Bank of China. From 2003 to 2013, he was the Chairman of the China Construction Bank. In 2013, he was appointed as the Chairman of the China Development Bank. Wang Hongzhang is a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is also a member of the Standing Committee of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
