Tim Flock was an American stock car racing driver. He was born on 11 May 1924 in Fort Payne, Alabama. He began his racing career in 1948 and won the NASCAR Grand National championship in 1952 and 1955. He was the first driver to win two consecutive championships in NASCAR's top division. Flock was known for his aggressive driving style and was one of the first drivers to use the "slingshot" technique to pass other cars. He was also one of the first drivers to use a two-way radio in his car to communicate with his pit crew. Flock retired from racing in 1961 and was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1992. He died on 11 March 1998 at the age of 73. At the time of his death, Flock had an estimated net worth of $2 million. He earned most of his wealth from his racing career, as well as from endorsements and other business ventures.
