Taraka Rama Rao Nandamuri was an Indian film actor, director, producer, and politician who served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for three terms. He was one of the most influential figures in the history of Telugu cinema. He was also known as "Anna Garu" (elder brother) and "Viswa Vikhyatha Nata Sarvabhouma" (the greatest actor of the world). Nandamuri was born on 28 May 1923 in Nimmakuru, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. He was the eldest son of Nandamuri Lakshmaih and Venkata Ramamma. He had two younger brothers, Harikrishna and Nandamuri Rama Krishna. Nandamuri started his career as a stage actor in the 1940s. He made his debut in the Telugu film Mana Desam in 1949. He went on to act in over 300 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. He was known for his roles in films such as Pathala Bhairavi (1951), Mayabazar (1957), and Nartanasala (1963). Nandamuri was also a successful director and producer. He directed and produced several films, including the critically acclaimed Lava Kusa (1963). He also served as the president of the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce from 1964 to 1973. Nandamuri was also a successful politician. He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1983 and served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 1983 to 1984, from 1984 to 1989, and from 1994 to 1995.
