Simon Callow is an English actor, writer, and director. He is best known for his roles in the films Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, and Amadeus. He has also appeared in numerous stage productions, including the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. Callow was born in London, England, on 13 June 1949. He attended the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he studied acting. After graduating, he began his career in the theatre, appearing in numerous productions in the West End and on Broadway. Callow has appeared in numerous films, including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, and Amadeus. He has also appeared in television series such as Doctor Who, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and The New Statesman. Callow has written several books, including Being an Actor, Love is Where it Falls, and Shooting the Actor. He has also written and directed several plays, including The Mystery of Charles Dickens and The Man Jesus. Callow is a patron of the British Humanist Association and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is also a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
