February 2015 founded Quill and Parchment Spoken Word Poetry Festival, a monthly poetry event at Vaucluse Lounge in the Charlie Chaplin House at 8210 Sunset Blvd. West Hollywood, CA.

Echo Park, California: Opened 'Hecho en Echo', a re-purposing store. Sharmage makes coil baskets out of recycled clothing, sells vintage items, re gifting items, and puts the profits back into beautifying Echo Park by rescuing weed patches and turning them into drought resistant gardens, and cleaning up clutter and trash along Echo Park Avenue. Published "Cradle Songs: An Anthology of Poems on Motherhood" with co-editor Rachelle Yousuf. [April 2012]

In August 2011, founded fogdog poetry, an open mic spoken word poetry venue, at fogdog Art Gallery in Arlington, Washington.

2010 published La Kalima ~ A Fourth Collection of Poetry.

2008 published Contingencies - A Third Collection of Poetry.

2007 her poem I Said Coffee was nominated for the Pushcart Prize for Poetry, the most honored poetry award in America.

2005 published Silver Tears and Time ~ A Second Collection of Poetry.

2003 published Unsung Songs ~ A Collection of Poetry.

Built a circulating library at Pacific Hills Middle School in West Hollywood (1996-1998).

In 1990, funded a playground and gardens at The Oaks School in Hollywood with a recycling program she set up at the school.
