Shamim Haider Patwary is a Bangladeshi politician who is currently serving as the Minister of Home Affairs in the Government of Bangladesh. He was born on 25 September 1981 in Gaibandha District, Bangladesh. He is a member of the ruling Awami League party and was elected to the Parliament of Bangladesh in 2008. Patwary completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dhaka in 2003. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the same university in 2005. Patwary has held various positions in the government, including as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs from 2009 to 2013, and as the Minister of Home Affairs from 2013 to present. He has also served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs since 2013. Patwary is married and has two children. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing cricket and football.
