Rustam Saidov is a former Uzbekistani professional boxer who competed from 1998 to 2014. He is a two-time world champion, having held the WBA light welterweight title from 2004 to 2006, and the WBA welterweight title from 2007 to 2008. Born on 6 February 1978 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Saidov began boxing at the age of 12. He won the Uzbekistani national amateur championships in 1997 and 1998, and was a member of the Uzbekistani national team from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, Saidov turned professional and won his first professional fight against Russian boxer Alexander Kostyuk. He went on to win his next nine fights, including a win over former world champion Kostya Tszyu. In 2004, Saidov won the WBA light welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Vivian Harris. He successfully defended the title three times before losing it to Junior Witter in 2006. In 2007, Saidov won the WBA welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Carlos Quintana. He successfully defended the title twice before losing it to Miguel Cotto in 2008. After losing the title, Saidov went on to fight several more times, but was never able to regain a world title. He retired from boxing in 2014 with a record of 33 wins (17 by knockout) and 5 losses.
