Rodrigo Amarante is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his work with the bands Los Hermanos and Little Joy, as well as his solo career. He has released two solo albums, Cavalo (2014) and Couro (2018). He has also composed music for films, television, and theater, and has acted in several films. Amarante was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and began playing music at a young age. He studied classical guitar and composition at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In 1999, he formed the band Los Hermanos with his brother, Marcelo Amarante, and two friends, Rodrigo Barba and Bruno Medina. The band released four studio albums and achieved great success in Brazil. In 2008, Amarante formed the band Little Joy with Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes and Binki Shapiro. The band released one album in 2008 and toured extensively. In 2014, Amarante released his debut solo album, Cavalo. The album was well-received and spawned the hit single "Tardei". In 2018, he released his second solo album, Couro. Amarante has also composed music for films, television, and theater. He has composed music for the films The Second Mother (2015) and Aquarius (2016). He has also composed music for the television series Narcos (2015-2017) and 3% (2016-present). In addition to his musical career, Amarante has also acted in several films. He has appeared in the films The Second Mother (2015), Aquarius (2016), and The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão (2019).
