Rob Bowen is an American professional baseball player who currently plays for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on February 24, 1981 in Bedford, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where he played college baseball for the Mavericks. Bowen was drafted by the Padres in the third round of the 2002 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Padres in 2005. He has since played for the Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics, and Minnesota Twins. Bowen is a career .236 hitter with 33 home runs and 140 RBIs in 590 games. He is known for his defensive ability, having won the Gold Glove Award in 2008. Bowen is married to his wife, Kristin, and they have two children. He currently resides in San Diego, California.

Bowen was designated for assignment by Chicago and traded to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for fellow catcher Jason Kendall on July 16 of that year. He was released by the Oakland Athletics on March 17, 2009.

On June 20, 2007, the Chicago Cubs acquired Bowen and minor league outfielder Kyler Burke from the Padres in exchange for catcher Michael Barrett.

Bowen attended Homestead High School in Fort Wayne. His senior year (1999), he earned All-State honors and was named the Indiana State Player of the Year by Gatorade and USA Today.

Shortly after graduating from Homestead, Bowen was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the 1999 amateur draft, and made his debut with the Twins as a September call-up in 2003. He combined to play 24 games in the 2003 & 2004 seasons before spending the entire 2005 season in the Twins' farm system.
