Richard Benjamin is an American actor, director, and producer. He was born on May 22, 1938 in New York City, New York, USA. He is best known for his roles in the films Goodbye, Columbus (1969), Catch-22 (1970), Westworld (1973), The Sunshine Boys (1975), and My Favorite Year (1982). He attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City and graduated from Northwestern University in 1959. He began his career as a stage actor, appearing in productions of The Threepenny Opera and The World of Sholom Aleichem. He made his film debut in 1967 with the comedy The Graduate. He went on to appear in a number of films, including Goodbye, Columbus (1969), Catch-22 (1970), Westworld (1973), The Sunshine Boys (1975), and My Favorite Year (1982). In addition to his acting career, Benjamin has also directed several films, including My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988), Made in America (1993), and Racing with the Moon (1984).
