Ponka-We Victors is an American tribal leader, activist, and politician. She is the current chairwoman of the Tohono O'odham Nation, a federally recognized Native American tribe in Arizona. She was elected to the position in 2018, becoming the first woman to serve as chairwoman of the tribe. Victors was born in Wichita, Kansas, and is of Tohono O'odham and Kiowa descent. She grew up in Sells, Arizona, on the Tohono O'odham Nation reservation. She attended the University of Arizona, where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public administration. Victors has served in various roles in the Tohono O'odham Nation government, including as a tribal council member, vice chairwoman, and chairwoman. She has also served as a member of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association and the National Indian Gaming Association. Victors has been an advocate for Native American rights and has spoken out against the construction of a border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, which would cut through the Tohono O'odham Nation's land. She has also been an advocate for environmental protection and has spoken out against the construction of a copper mine on the reservation. In 2013, Victors drew national attention when during a hearing on a bill to deny in-state tuition to Kansas high school graduates who were undocumented immigrants, Victors addressed Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and other advocates of the bill, saying, "I think it's funny, Mr. Kobach, because when you mention illegal immigrant, I think of all of you."

2012

Victors, who had worked as a Congressional intern, had been a long-time backer of Delia Garcia, the incumbent Representative from the 103rd District. In 2010, Garcia, instead of running for re-election, helped Victors file as the only candidate for the 2010 Democratic primary election just hours before the filing deadline, thus making her the presumptive winner of the seat – the last year in which a Republican vied for this seat was 1998, when incumbent Democrat Thomas Klein polled 57% of the vote in a three-way race. Victors ran unopposed in the November general election.

Victors is a member of the Ponca and Tohono O'odham tribes of Native Americans, and a lifelong resident of Wichita. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Newman University in 2005, and a Master of Public Administration from Wichita State University in 2008.
