He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television writing. He wrote for the television series The Wonder Years and wrote the screenplay for the movie The Last Days of Disco. In 2002, von Ziegesar published the first book in the Gossip Girl series. The series was a success and was adapted into a television series in 2007. The series ran for six seasons and was a hit with young adults. Von Ziegesar has also written several other books, including the It Girl series and the Gossip Girl spin-off series, The Carlyles.
