Paul Annett is an English director, producer, and writer. He is best known for his work on the British television series Doctor Who, which he directed from 1965 to 1967. He also directed the Doctor Who spin-off series K-9 and Company, and wrote the screenplay for the Doctor Who film Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. Annett was born in London on 19 February 1937. He began his career in television in the early 1960s, directing episodes of the series The Avengers and The Saint. In 1965, he was hired to direct episodes of Doctor Who, and he directed a total of twenty-five episodes over the next two years. He also wrote the screenplay for the Doctor Who film Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. in 1966. In 1981, Annett directed the Doctor Who spin-off series K-9 and Company, which starred Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. He also directed episodes of the series The Adventures of Black Beauty, The Tomorrow People, and The Professionals. In addition to his work in television, Annett has also directed several feature films, including The Land That Time Forgot (1975), The People That Time Forgot (1977), and The Final Conflict (1981). Annett has been married twice, first to actress and singer Yvonne Antrobus, and then to actress and singer Jane Asher. He has two children from his first marriage.
