Patrick Alessandrin is a French film director, writer, and assistant director. He was born on 17 May 1961 in Saint-Nazaire, Loire-Atlantique, France. He is best known for his work on the films Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001), District 13 (2004), and The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch (2008). Alessandrin began his career as an assistant director in the early 1980s, working on films such as The Return of Martin Guerre (1982) and The Big Blue (1988). He made his directorial debut in 1991 with the film La Vengeance d'une Blonde. In 2001, Alessandrin directed the French-language action-horror film Brotherhood of the Wolf, which was a box office success and earned him a César Award nomination for Best Director. He followed this up with the 2004 action film District 13, which was also a box office success. In 2008, Alessandrin directed the action-thriller The Heir Apparent: Largo Winch, which was based on the Belgian comic book series of the same name. The film was a box office success and earned him a César Award nomination for Best Director. Alessandrin has also directed several television films, including the crime drama La Vengeance d'une Blonde (1991), the thriller La Femme de l'ombre (1996), and the drama La Chambre des morts (2006).
