Otto Frank was a German-born Jewish businessman who is best known as the father of Anne Frank, the young Jewish girl whose diary became a famous account of the Holocaust. Born in 1889, Otto Frank was the son of a successful businessman and was educated in a variety of fields, including banking and law. He served in the German army during World War I and later worked in the banking industry. In 1933, Otto and his family moved to Amsterdam to escape the Nazi regime. He opened a business in Amsterdam and worked as a director of the Dutch Opekta Company, which sold spices and other food products. In 1942, the Nazis occupied the Netherlands and began to persecute the Jewish population. Otto and his family went into hiding in a secret annex of his office building. During their time in hiding, Anne wrote her famous diary, which was later published as The Diary of Anne Frank. In 1945, Otto was the only member of his family to survive the Holocaust. He returned to Amsterdam and was reunited with Anne's diary, which he had kept safe during their time in hiding. He later published the diary and it became an international bestseller. Otto spent the rest of his life promoting Anne's legacy and advocating for Holocaust education. He died in 1980 at the age of 91. Otto Frank's net worth is estimated to be around $2 million.
