Natalia Linichuk is a Russian figure skating coach and former competitive ice dancer. She is the 1984 Olympic silver medalist with her partner Gennadi Karponossov, and the 1981 World champion. She is also a five-time European champion and four-time Soviet national champion. Linichuk began skating at the age of seven and competed in ice dancing with Gennadi Karponossov. The pair won the Soviet national title four times and the European title five times. They also won the silver medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. Linichuk retired from competitive skating in 1985 and began coaching. She has coached many of the world's top ice dancers, including Oksana Grishuk and Evgeny Platov, who won the Olympic gold medal in 1998. She has also coached Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, who won the Olympic gold medal in 2006. Linichuk is currently the head coach of the Ice Dance Academy in Moscow. She is married to former ice dancer and coach Alexander Zhulin. After coaching in Moscow, Linichuk and Karponosov accepted an offer to coach in the U.S. They moved with their students in June 1994 and coached at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. In September 2007, they moved to the Ice Works Skating Complex in Aston, Pennsylvania.

1981

Linichuk accepted Karponosov's proposal after they retired from competition. She had one prior marriage. Linichuk and Karponosov were married on 31 July 1981. Their daughter, Anastasiya Karponosova, was born in February 1985. The couple initially lived in Moscow and then moved to the United States in the early '90s.

1980

Linichuk and Karponosov won the 1980 Olympics, but failed to defend their World title, making them the only team ever to unsuccessfully defend a World title after winning the Olympics. In 1981, Linichuk and Karponosov retired from competition.

1978

Linichuk and Karponosov became World champions in 1978 and 1979. They won the European Championships in 1979 and 1980, after winning a silver medal in 1978, and bronze medals from 1974 through 1977.
