Babst graduated from Tulane University in 2003 with a degree in English and Creative Writing. She then went on to earn her Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University in 2006. Babst has written for a variety of publications, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The Paris Review. She has also written for television, including the HBO series Treme. Babst is currently working on her second novel, which is set in New Orleans. She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and two children.
