Márta Záray is a Hungarian composer and conductor. She is best known for her work in film and television soundtracks, including the Academy Award-winning score for the film Mephisto (1981). She has also composed music for numerous Hungarian films, television series, and stage productions. Záray was born in Tatabánya, Hungary, on 28 August 1926. She studied music at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, graduating in 1950. She then worked as a conductor and composer for the Hungarian Radio and Television Corporation. In the 1970s, Záray began to compose music for films, including the Academy Award-winning score for Mephisto (1981). She has since composed music for numerous Hungarian films, television series, and stage productions. Záray has received numerous awards for her work, including the Kossuth Prize (1985), the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (1996), and the Hungarian Heritage Award (2006). She was also inducted into the Hungarian Hall of Fame in 2011. As of 2021, Márta Záray's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
