Madeleine Blaustein was an American voice actress, writer, and director. She was best known for her work in the Pokémon anime series, where she voiced the characters of Meowth, Professor Oak, and Nurse Joy. She also voiced characters in other anime series, such as Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Sailor Moon. Blaustein was born in Queens, New York, on October 9, 1960. She attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in theater. Blaustein began her career as a voice actress in the early 1990s, and her first major role was as the voice of Meowth in the Pokémon anime series. She went on to voice a variety of characters in the series, including Professor Oak, Nurse Joy, and the Team Rocket trio. She also voiced characters in other anime series, such as Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Sailor Moon. Blaustein was also a writer and director. She wrote and directed the short film "The Big Day" in 2003, and wrote and directed the feature film "The Big Day: The Movie" in 2006. Blaustein passed away on December 11, 2006, at the age of 46. She was survived by her husband, Adam Seth Blaustein, and their two children.
