Lito Sheppard is a former American football cornerback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Florida.
Sheppard was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named to the NFL All-Pro team in 2004. He also played for the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and Oakland Raiders.
Sheppard was born on April 8, 1981 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended Raines High School in Jacksonville, where he was a standout in football and track. He was a two-time All-State selection in football and was named the Florida High School Player of the Year in 1998.
Sheppard attended the University of Florida, where he played for coach Steve Spurrier's Florida Gators football team from 1999 to 2001. He was a two-time All-SEC selection and was a consensus first-team All-American in 2001.
Sheppard was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played for the Eagles from 2002 to 2008, and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2004 and 2006. He was also named to the NFL All-Pro team in 2004.
In 2009, Sheppard signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Vikings for one season before being traded to the New York Jets in 2010. He played for the Jets for two seasons before signing with the Oakland Raiders in 2012. He retired from the NFL after the 2012 season.
Sheppard is currently the defensive backs coach at the University of Florida. He was hired in 2019.

In 2019, Sheppard became the safeties coach for the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football.
Sheppard was signed by the Oakland Raiders on August 26, 2011, released during the final cuts on September 3, and then re-signed by the team on October 31. During the remainder of the 2011 season, he played in nine games and started seven of them. He became a free agent after the season.
Sheppard signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings on April 21, 2010. He became a free agent following the 2010 season.
Sheppard was traded to the New York Jets on February 28, 2009, for a fifth round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and a conditional pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. The Jets restructured Sheppards' contract, adding one year and "new" money to the contract in 2010. He was released on March 4, 2010.
