Lex Barker was an American actor best known for playing Tarzan in five films from 1949 to 1953. He was born on May 8, 1919 in Rye, New York, to Alexander Crichlow Barker Sr. and his wife, the former Marion Thornton Beals. Barker began his acting career in the late 1940s, appearing in several Broadway productions. He made his film debut in 1948 in the movie The Boy with Green Hair. He then went on to star in five Tarzan films, beginning with Tarzan's Magic Fountain in 1949. He also appeared in several other films, including The Bandit of Sherwood Forest (1946), The Flame and the Arrow (1950), and The Ten Commandments (1956). Barker was married five times, including to actress Lana Turner from 1953 to 1957. He died on May 11, 1973 in New York City. At the time of his death, Barker had an estimated net worth of $2 million.
