K. Asif was an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the epic historical drama Mughal-e-Azam (1960). He also directed the films Phool (1944), Anarkali (1953), and Love and God (1986). K. Asif was born on 14 June 1922 in Etawah, United Provinces, British India. He was the son of a wealthy landowner. He studied at Aligarh Muslim University and then at the University of Lucknow. K. Asif began his career in the film industry as an assistant director in the 1940s. He made his directorial debut with the film Phool (1944). He then directed the film Anarkali (1953), which was a huge success. His most famous work was the epic historical drama Mughal-e-Azam (1960). The film was a huge success and is considered one of the greatest films of all time. K. Asif was married to actress Zeenat Begum. He died on 9 March 1971 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. He was 48 years old.
