June Lockhart is an American actress best known for her roles as Ruth Martin on the television series Lassie and as Dr. Maureen Robinson on the television series Lost in Space. She has also appeared in numerous films and television shows throughout her career. Lockhart was born in New York City on June 25, 1925. She began her career as a child actress, appearing in the Broadway production of A Christmas Carol in 1934. She went on to appear in numerous films, including The Yearling (1946), The Big Clock (1948), and The Bad Seed (1956). In 1954, Lockhart began her television career with a role on the series Lassie. She went on to appear in numerous television shows, including The Twilight Zone, The Virginian, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. In 1965, she was cast as Dr. Maureen Robinson in the television series Lost in Space. She remained with the show until its cancellation in 1968. Lockhart has also appeared in numerous television movies and miniseries, including The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote, and Touched by an Angel. She has also appeared in several films, including The Incredible Journey (1963), The Cat from Outer Space (1978), and The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland (1999). Lockhart has been married twice, first to John F. Maloney from 1949 to 1957, and then to John Lindsay from 1959 to 1972. She has two children, Anne Kathleen Maloney and June Elizabeth Lindsay.
