John Tartaglia is an American puppeteer, actor, singer, dancer, and voice artist. He is best known for his work on the Broadway musical Avenue Q, for which he won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. He has also appeared in the films Camp and Beauty and the Beast.
Tartaglia was born in Maple Shade Township, New Jersey, and grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He attended Cherry Hill High School East and graduated in 1996. He then attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he studied musical theater.
Tartaglia began his career as a puppeteer in the Broadway production of Avenue Q in 2003. He won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his performance. He has also appeared in the films Camp and Beauty and the Beast.
Tartaglia has also appeared in television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Good Wife, and The Electric Company. He has also provided voices for animated series such as Johnny and the Sprites, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, and The Backyardigans.
