Joel Stroetzel is an American musician best known as the rhythm guitarist for the metalcore band Killswitch Engage. He is also a member of the band Times of Grace. Stroetzel was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, and grew up in nearby Agawam. He attended Agawam High School, where he met future Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach. He began playing guitar at the age of 13, and was influenced by bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. Stroetzel joined Killswitch Engage in 1999, replacing original guitarist Pete Cortese. He has since recorded five studio albums with the band, as well as two live albums and a DVD. He also appears on the band's first two EPs. In 2010, Stroetzel formed the side project Times of Grace with former Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach. The band released their debut album, The Hymn of a Broken Man, in 2011. Stroetzel is married and has two children. He currently resides in Massachusetts. As of 2021, Joel Stroetzel's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.

Joel is proudly endorsed by Caparison Guitars and uses the Caparison Dellinger, Horus, TAT, and Angelus models. Caparison produces the Dellinger-JSM – Joel Stroetzel Signature Model. It has a Caparison Fixed Bridge and through body stringing, with Fishman Fluence Killswitch Engage Signature pickups, a walnut top, mahogony back, and a 5-piece maple and walnut neck. It is the first Caparison guitar to have a pick guard. He also had another signature model which is similar to an Angelus, but with a narrower body and longer horns, somewhat a cross between a TAT Special and an Angelus.

While at college, Stroetzel began playing in the band Aftershock. The band broke up in 1999, when Joel formed Killswitch Engage with co-guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. Joel plays the guitar solo in the track "Holy Diver" and is seen occasionally singing during live renditions of "The End of Heartache".
