Jimmy Cricket is a British actor and comedian who has been performing since the 1960s. He is best known for his catchphrase "Goodness Gracious Me!" and his signature red and yellow striped trousers. Jimmy Cricket was born on 17 October 1945 in Cookstown, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He attended St. Patrick's Primary School in Cookstown and then St. Patrick's College in Armagh. Jimmy Cricket began his career as a stand-up comedian in the 1960s, performing in clubs and pubs around Northern Ireland. He then moved to London in the 1970s and began appearing on television shows such as The Good Old Days and The Comedians. In the 1980s, Jimmy Cricket became a household name with his own BBC television series, Goodness Gracious Me. The show ran for four series and featured sketches, songs and stand-up comedy. Jimmy Cricket has also appeared in films such as The Boys from County Clare (2003) and The Matchmaker (1997). He has also appeared in pantomimes and on stage in musicals such as The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella. Jimmy Cricket is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children. He currently lives in London.
