Jim Montgomery is a former American swimmer who won three gold medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. He was born on January 24, 1955 in Madison, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Longhorns swim team. Montgomery is best known for his performance in the 1976 Summer Olympics, where he won three gold medals in the 100-meter freestyle, 4x100-meter freestyle relay, and 4x200-meter freestyle relay. He also won a silver medal in the 4x100-meter medley relay. Montgomery is currently the head coach of the University of Denver men's ice hockey team. He has also served as the head coach of the U.S. National Team and the U.S. Olympic Team. Montgomery is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children. He is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family. He is also an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
