Jesse Williams is an American actor, director, producer, and activist. He is best known for his role as Dr. Jackson Avery on the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy. He has also appeared in films such as The Cabin in the Woods, The Butler, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Williams was born on August 5, 1981 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode Island, and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a degree in African American Studies and Film & Media Arts. Williams began his acting career in 2002, appearing in the television series Law & Order. He went on to appear in a number of television shows, including Beyond the Break, Greek, and Grey's Anatomy. He made his feature film debut in 2007 with the film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. In addition to his acting career, Williams is an activist and philanthropist. He is the founder of the Ebroji app, which provides users with access to culturally relevant emojis.
