Jerry Don Gleaton is an American country music singer and songwriter. He is best known for his hit single "I'm Just a Cowboy" which reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1985. He has released five studio albums and has charted several singles on the Billboard country charts. Gleaton was born in Brownwood, Texas, and began playing guitar at the age of nine. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1979 and began performing in local clubs. He was signed to a recording contract with Epic Records in 1984 and released his debut single, "I'm Just a Cowboy", which became a number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. He followed this success with the release of his debut album, I'm Just a Cowboy, which peaked at number twenty-five on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Gleaton has released four additional studio albums, including his most recent, The Cowboy Way, in 2011. He has charted several singles on the Billboard country charts, including "I'm Just a Cowboy", "The Cowboy Way", "I'm Gonna Love You", and "I'm Gonna Miss You". He has also written songs for other artists, including "I'm Gonna Miss You" for George Strait and "The Cowboy Way" for Alan Jackson. Gleaton is currently married to his wife, Tammy, and they have two children. He continues to tour and perform throughout the United States.
