James Weidman is an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger. He has performed with a variety of jazz artists, including Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band. He has also released several albums as a leader. Weidman was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and began playing piano at the age of five. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and later at the New England Conservatory of Music. He has performed with a variety of jazz artists, including Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band. Weidman has released several albums as a leader, including "The James Weidman Trio" (1995), "The James Weidman Quartet" (1997), and "The James Weidman Quintet" (1999). He has also composed and arranged music for television and film, including the score for the film "The Great Gatsby" (1974). Weidman is currently a professor of jazz piano at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
