Henri Betti was a French composer and conductor. He is best known for his work in the film industry, composing the scores for over 100 films. He also wrote the music for the popular French song "C'est si bon". Betti was born in Nice, France, and studied at the Conservatoire de Paris. He began his career as a jazz musician, playing in various bands in the 1930s. He then moved into film music, composing the scores for films such as La Ronde (1950), La Vérité (1960), and La Grande Vadrouille (1966). Betti was also an actor, appearing in films such as La Grande Vadrouille and La Cage aux Folles (1978). He was also a conductor, leading the orchestra for the French television series Les Enfants du Soleil (1966-1967). Betti was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1967. He died in Nice in 2005.

In 2018, the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi gave the name of Henri Betti to a square located in the Vieux-Nice district (rue Saint-Joseph) where he was born in 1917.

2016

In 2016, Lambert Wilson released the album "Wilson chante Montand" in which he sings the songs of Yves Montand. Among the 17 songs of the album there is "Mais qu'est-ce que j'ai ?" which was written in 1947 by Henri Betti (music) and Édith Piaf (lyrics). The musical arrangements of the 17 tracks were made by Bruno Fontaine.
