Helen Mirren is an English actress who has had an extensive career in film, television, and stage. She is best known for her Academy Award-winning performance in The Queen (2006) and her BAFTA Award-winning performance in The Madness of King George (1994). She has also won four Emmy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award. Helen Mirren was born on 26 July 1945 in Chiswick, London, England. She is the daughter of Kathleen Alexandrina Eva Matilda (Rogers) and Vasiliy Petrovich Mironoff. Her father was Russian and her mother was English. She has one older brother, Peter Basil Mironoff. Helen Mirren attended St Bernard's High School for Girls in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, and then the New College of Speech and Drama in London. She began her acting career in 1967 with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Helen Mirren has been married twice. She was married to director Taylor Hackford from 1997 to 2020.
