Harold Thimbleby is a British computer scientist and professor of computing at Swansea University. He was born on 19 July 1955 in British. He is 65 years old. He is married to his wife, Dr. Helen Thimbleby, and has two children. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Manchester and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh. He has published over 200 papers and books on topics such as human-computer interaction, computer-supported cooperative work, and computer-supported education. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the British Computer Society's Lovelace Medal, the British Computer Society's Distinguished Fellowship, and the British Computer Society's Lifetime Achievement Award. He is currently a professor of computing at Swansea University and is the director of the Human-Computer Interaction Centre. He is also a visiting professor at the University of York and a visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh. He is an advocate for the use of technology to improve the lives of people with disabilities and has been involved in numerous projects to do so. He is also a strong advocate for the use of technology to improve education.
