Glenn Close is an American actress and producer who has been in the entertainment industry for over four decades. She has won three Emmy Awards, three Tony Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. She is also a six-time Academy Award nominee. Close was born on March 19, 1947, in Greenwich, Connecticut. She is the daughter of Bettine Moore and William Taliaferro Close, a doctor. She has two siblings, Jessie and Tina. Close attended the College of William & Mary and graduated with a degree in theatre in 1971. She then attended the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied acting. Close began her career on the stage, appearing in several Broadway productions.
