Geraldine Laybourne is an American media executive and entrepreneur. She is best known for her role as the founder and former CEO of Oxygen Media, a cable television network for women. She is also the founder of the media and technology company, Kit Digital. Laybourne was born in 1947 in Plainfield, New Jersey. She attended Vassar College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English literature. She then went on to earn a master's degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. Laybourne began her career in the media industry in the 1970s, working as a producer for the children's television show, "The Electric Company." She then went on to become the president of Nickelodeon in 1984, where she was responsible for launching the network's first original programming. In 1998, Laybourne founded Oxygen Media, a cable television network for women. She served as the company's CEO until 2007, when she stepped down to focus on her new venture, Kit Digital. Laybourne is also the founder of the Geraldine R. Laybourne Chair in Media and Education at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. As of 2021, Geraldine Laybourne's net worth is estimated to be roughly $100 million.
