Frankie Beverly is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He is best known as the frontman of the band Maze, which he formed in 1970. He has released several solo albums, including his debut album, Frankie Beverly (1977), and his most recent album, Music Is the Key (2015). Beverly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the city's Germantown neighborhood. He began his musical career as a drummer in the local band The Butlers. In 1970, he formed Maze, which became one of the most successful R&B groups of the 1980s. The group released several albums, including Joy and Pain (1980), We Are One (1982), and Can't Stop the Love (1986). Beverly has also released several solo albums, including his debut album, Frankie Beverly (1977), and his most recent album, Music Is the Key (2015). He has also appeared in several films, including The Wiz (1978) and The Five Heartbeats (1991). Beverly has been married to his wife, Janice, since 1975. They have two children, Anthony and India. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
