Debbie Myers is an Emmy and Peabody award winning producer and creative entertainment business leader. In her most recent role as general manager and executive vice president of Science Channel, Myers headed the business and creative charge for the network and guided the network to significant ratings success and business growth including 19 consecutive quarters of year over year growth and record profits of 61%. Myers doubled Science Channel's reach to more than 80 million U. S. households and another 100 million around the world. Under Myers' direction, Science Channel became the creative playground for smart, lean forward entertainment attracting top scientists and A list entertainers including Morgan Freeman, James Woods, Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, William Hurt, and Ricky Gervais, - all who share a passion for creating provocative programming that challenges viewers to think while being entertained. Myers spearheaded and launched many Emmy and Peabody award winning series that merged science, fiction, humor and pop culture including Emmy winner "Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman," Emmy winner, "The Rising Rebuilding Ground Zero" with Steven Spielberg, "An Idiot Abroad with Ricky Gervais," "Outrageous Acts of Science," "Unexplained Files," "Survivorman," "How It's Made," James Wood's "FUTURESCAPE," "How The Universe Works," "Dark Matters with John Noble" and "Punkin Chunkin. " She brought blue-chip blockbuster events to Discovery Channel including Nik Wallenda's wire walk and the discovery of the Giant Squid. Myers joined Discovery Communications in June 2005 and served as VP of production and later as SVP of production & development at TLC where she oversaw production and creation of signature series including: "Little People Big World," "Say Yes To The Dress," "Toddlers and Tiaras," "Take Home Chef," "LA Ink, "What Not to Wear," "Miami Ink" and the Emmy award-winning "Baby Story. " She also led and programmed the successful launch and first 18 months of Investigation Discovery (ID). Her first 12 shows earned a 85% success rate and included returnable series like: "On the Case with Paula Zahn," "Disappeared," "Wicked Attraction," "Deadly Women," and "I Almost Got Away With It. "Prior to joining Discovery, Myers ran her own production company, Aha! Entertainment, where she created projects for NBC, Paramount, VH-1, and 20th Television. Myers was also instrumental in launching several cable networks. She served for eight years as vice president of Programming and Development at E!, where she launched the network and created and ran 17 signature series, including the Emmy Award-winning "Talk Soup" with Greg Kinnear and "E! News". She launched and programmed Oxygen, Popcorn Channel, Casino Gaming Television, WebTV, Parent Television and the Outdoor Channel. Myers is on the advisory board of Producers Guild of America and a chair of the Produced By NY annual conference. Myers was on the board of World Congress of Science and Factual Producers. She served on the Museum of Science Fiction Board of Advisors, the NASA public out reach Advisory and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
