David Wojahn is an American poet and professor of English at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is the author of nine collections of poetry, including Interrogation Palace: New and Selected Poems 1982-2004, which won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. He has also published two books of criticism, and his work has appeared in numerous anthologies and journals. Wojahn was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and grew up in the Midwest. He received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1975 and his M.F.A. from the University of Iowa in 1978. He has taught at the University of Iowa, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he is currently a professor of English. Wojahn has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award, the William Carlos Williams Award, the Poetry Society of America's Shelley Memorial Award, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He has also served as a judge for the National Book Awards and the National Poetry Series.
