Dara O Briain is an Irish comedian, writer, presenter, actor, and producer. He is best known for hosting the BBC Two panel show Mock the Week, and for his work on the BBC Two comedy panel show QI. He has also presented the BBC One game show Robot Wars, and the Sky One game show The Mad House. O Briain was born in Wicklow, Ireland, and attended University College Dublin, where he studied mathematics and theoretical physics. After graduating, he worked as a software engineer for a number of years before turning to comedy. O Briain has appeared in a number of television shows, including Have I Got News for You, The Panel, and The Apprentice: You're Fired. He has also written and presented a number of documentaries, including School of Hard Sums and Dara O Briain's Science Club. O Briain has won a number of awards, including the British Comedy Award for Best Male Television Comic in 2006, and the Rose d'Or for Best Entertainment Show in 2011. He has also been nominated for a BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance in 2012. O Briain is married to Susan O Briain, and they have two children. He is an avid fan of the Irish rugby team, and is a patron of the charity Special Olympics Ireland.
